Wildlife Rehabilitation Centers can be found among many local communities.  If you would like to help species in need that have been wounded and/or are sick, there may be opportunities in your area to volunteer your time and make a difference.  Volunteering at rehabilitation centers will give you an opportunity to be more engaged with others  that are also passionate about wildlife.  Aiding avian species will not only help biodiversity in a time of need, but allow you to experience nature at its best!

Due the constant change in habitat by human influence, nesting areas are scarce for birds of prey.  As we continue to grow and expand, their fate is left in our hands.  We have the power to assist their nesting efforts by building boxes so a variety of avian species can thrive in our areas. Birds such as American Kestrels and Great Horned Owls utilize already made nests displacing other avian species.  By being an advocate for birds of prey, you will be able to  provide them with the opportunity to nest and continue the survival of their species.  If you are good with your hands or need a project for your school or scout troop, you can begin building your own nesting boxes!  This is a great way to get involved and know you are making a difference.

Through the green open areas that still remain within our communities, many plants species are considered to be invasive and growing at incredible speeds.  Invasive species can be defined as non-native to the ecosystem, which can cause harm both economically as well as environmentally. 32  These invasive species are harming our ecosystems and all who depend upon them for survival.  By donating your time, you will be able to help support your local community be successful.  Raptors found in your local area will be able to thrive and hunt for food, allowing them to be an active part of where you live!

Be an active participant in your community-  Helping will ensure that biodiversity will EXIST in the future.

Avian Species are everywhere if we just look up.  Citizen scientists are needed to help monitor avian species found in local areas as well as migrating birds traveling along on their journey.  Reports can be made to local organizations as well as state and federal agencies.   Local organizations in your area seek out individuals wanting to help support the efforts of tracking species that share your community.  This is a wonderful way to learn about the biodiversity in your area and help raise awareness  about birds of prey.
